A most interesting contract to install a lift for Members’ use to serve the first floor restaurant, to fully refurbish the external façade, and the complete renovation of the ground floor facilities of this famous Gentlemen’s Club (founded 1693).
Due to the buildings Grade I listing, liaison with English Heritage ensured that all works were carried out in a traditional manner with original colours being used where possible. Other traditional skills employed were stonemasons, quality joinery, fibrous plaster mouldings and architectural metalwork.
As part of Firmco’s approach, meetings were held with both Architect and Club Secretary to ensure the minimum amount of disturbance to the Club’s influential members. Low noise operations, out of hours working and constant checking and liaison were commonplace and always a priority during the project.
